Our 10 favorite ATL gluten-free friendly restaurants | 2011

Inspired by Todd’s post about one of our favs, P.F. Chang’s as well as my previous post listing our “target” restaurants for 2012, I thought I’d post our favorite GF-friendly local restaurants of 2011.

These are listed in no particular order.

Enjoy!!

  1. Kaleidoscope Bistro + Pub (Brookhaven)
  2. Yeah! Burger (both Virginia-Highlands + Howell Mill)
  3. Verde Taqueria (Brookhaven)
  4. The Original El Taco (Virginia Highlands)
  5. P.F. Chang’s (Perimeter)
  6. Leon’s Full Service (Decatur)
  7. Uncle Maddio’s Pizza (North Druid Hills)
  8. Osteria del FIGO (Howell Mill)
  9. Nava (Buckhead)
  10. Noche’ (both Virginia-Highlands + Brookhaven)

*If there were a #11 it would be Ted’s Montana Grill! We love their downtown Decatur location which will always be special to us because that’s where we had one of our more memorable dates early-on, and it’s where we all went for dinner the first night I met Todd’s parents. :)

Decatur Wine Festival

Yesterday we attended the Decatur Wine Festival. It was held on the square in downtown Decatur and was a sold out event. The weather was P-E-R-F-E-C-T! Not a cloud in the sky, and a high of about 60 degrees.

We spent about 2 1/2 hours there tasting various wines and champagnes, and a little bit of food. From there we walked down the street to Ted’s Montana Grill for an early dinner as we were famished.

I pieced together this video in Picasa and unfortunately the audio doesn’t quite match up to the video. You will still be able to get a feel for the event, though.

We were both surprised by how many wines we DIDN’T like…following are the wines we tried yesterday that we liked a lot:

  • Nine Walks Sauvingion Blanc (T)
  • Gnarly Head Authentic Red (S)
  • Ferrari Carano Chardonnay (S)
  • Valdo Prosecco (T)
  • Chocolate Shop Dark Chocolate Wine (T)
  • Amalaya Red (T)
  • Charles de Fere Blanc de Blancs (T)
  • Barefoot Bubbly Extra Dry (S)
  • Alamos Torrontes (T)
  • Alamos Chardonnay (S)
  • MacMurray Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (T+S)
  • Pine Ridge Chenin/Viognier (T+S)

2011 Decatur Arts Festival

This past weekend, Stephanie and I really enjoyed our visit to the 2011 Decatur Arts Festival.

Here is a quick video recap:

One of my favorite pieces...

This event was wonderful, and a great way to spend some time together, as well as a very pleasant way to visit downtown Decatur.

Not to mention, some really great quality art and artists.

This event is a future MUST ATTEND!

And let’s not forget and give a quick shout-out to Raging Burrito, where we grabbed lunch before hitting the festival. A great joint – also highly recommended!
